Sekirnaya hill |
It is said, that when the first monks arrived an angel came down the hill and whipped the wife of a fisherman who was to settle down on the island. It was a heavenly sign to mark the islands as a place for holy seclusion. Since then the hill has been called Sekirnaya (Whipping hill). |
