Church-lighthouse upon Sekirnaya hill
Numerous technical novelties were introduced on the Solovki Islands: a unique dry dock for ship mending and winter stay, hot-air heating system in the churches, a lighthouse on the top of the church of the Ascension upon Sekirnaya hill. It was designed to operate even with the little light of a torch or a candle. Still now it is the utmost lighthouse on the White Sea.
