"The 17th century Boyarinya and Dining Chambers" show the atmosphere of Old Russia we know from fairy-tales. The reconstructed interiors demonstrate ornamental embroideries, expensive Russian and foreign textiles, various samples of Moscow jewelry art (buttons, ear-rings), books, chests - objects surrounding a Russian woman at that time.

"Ancient Zvenigorod" presents material and spiritual atmosphere of the town which is as old as Moscow: life of Slavic tribes, construction of the Kremlin, town handicrafts, flourishing of Zvenigorod at the end of the 14th century, Andrei Rublev art, foundation of Savva-Storozhevsky Monastery, dramatic events during the Time of Troubles and glory of Savva Storozhevsky Monastery in the mid-17th century.

Various exhibitions are organized to show the Museum collections in the gala halls with multicolored portals and tile stoves in the Tsarina Chambers.
The central place of the Zvenigorod Museum is occupied by the collection comprising 300 monuments of the 17th - 19th century tempera painting including icons from the Nativity Cathedral painted to the order of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich by the artists of the Armoury Chamber of Moscow Kremlin.

Noteworthy is the collection of medieval icon and ornamental embroidery and expensive Russian and foreign textiles used for church and secular clothes in combination with gold and silver lace or pearl embroidery.




The Museum has formed a significant collection of artistic metalwork with specimens of the 14th - 17th century Moscow jewelry art (icon mountings, crosses, woman adornment, bottoms), cast brass Old Believers' small-size sculptures of the 17th - 19th century and objects of Russian urban and estate everyday life made of bronze. Pieces of furniture, porcelain, majolica made by European and Russian craftsmen, the 17th - 19th century oil paintings are connected with history of the Moscow Region estates.

Numerous tools and implements are associated with traditional peasant everyday life, field and house labour. And the collection of diverse wicker articles amounting to about 300 items presents the handicraft which developed in Zvenigorod since the 1830s.
