T
he collection of the Melikhovo Museum amounts to 22 000 items.
The most important part of the collection consists of the manuscripts, the writer's possessions, books, photographs, furniture - the objects keeping his memory and preserving unique atmosphere insuring Melikhovo reputation of the most "unmuseologic" place.

The comprehensive fine art collection presents the pictures and sketches of I. Levitan, V. Polenov, I. Braz, F. Shekhtel, Drozdova, Khotyaintseva, Seregin. The most interesting part is the artistic heritage of the Chekhov artists: the works of Nikolai Pavlovich, Maria Pavlovna, Mikhail Pavlovich, Sergei Mikhailovich, Sergei Sergeyevich and the works of Chekhov's book illustrators: Levental, Kumankov. The unique illustrations were presented by Kukryniksy.

The photos, stored in the Museum, show Chekhovs' life in Melikhovo, present a gallery of people attached to Chekhov in his literary, theater and public activity and priceless original photos of the writer.

The Melikhovo garden is a "kingdom of tender colors" an impressive flavouring exposition.
In the Concert and Exhibition Hall stage decorations for Chekhov plays are permanently displayed.
