PERSONALITIES

This section of our project is devoted to the participants' biographies of the historical events of 1812. We shall not wittingly touch world-old polemics about the role of the Man in history. Our purpose is to collect all information about characters and active participants of this Epoch, the names and the acts of whose have reached us through centuries. That's why not surprised that alongside with titanic figures of the glorified commanders and well known politicians of that epoch we have stopped our attention and on less known persons or known in the narrow groups of researchers, and amateurs of history of that time. Theirs destinies are so different but nevertheless they are united - in them were laconically reflected the dates of the year 1812, and for many of them it became last...

THE FRENCH

ŤWe would like to offer you to familiarize with the biographies of the marshals of the First Empire and those of Napoleon's generals, who took active part in Russian campaign of 1812.
The biographies of persons of the First Empire, which are placed or will be placed on this site, do not pretend at all for entirety in presentation of the material.
More than 100 books in Russian, French and English languages were used as the sources of information for these biographies.

The author will be grateful for messages about possible inaccuracies or errors.ť

Some words about the Project

All materials are published in the framework of the project Ť1812 yearť. The section ŤPersonalitiesť was open in Russain on December 3, 1998 from AD. The English one was opened on January 28, 2001.
Authors express their deep gratitude to the collective of the server Museums of Russia who grant us necessary place for this project.
