Works of art of the Moscow Jewelry Firm by name of Khlebnikov
An exhibition "Works of art of the Moscow Jewelry Firm by name of
Khlebnikov" has been opened in the Front Hall of the Armory Chamber. About
30 objects from the collection of the Moscow Jewelry Firm by name of I. P.
Khlebnikov kept in the Museum of the Moscow Kremlin have been for the first
time displayed at the exhibition. The exhibition of works of the Firm by
name of Khlebnikov is the first one in the museum project of expositions
timed to the issue of catalogues of the collection "The Museum of the Moscow
Kremlin". The artists of the Firm by name of Khlebnikov have been leaders of
the trend, which revived national forms of art and consolidated in Moscow in
the second half of the XIX century. Being adherents of Russian cultural
survey, they had got excellent skills in ancient Russian traditional
complicated jewelry technologies, such as coinage, carving, enamels and
special techniques of silver works as well, in imitation of various
materials and technologies. Works of the Firm by name of Khlebnikov had been
time and again rewarded All-Russian and World awards of artistic and
industrial exhibitions and jewelry contests in the second half of the XIX -
early XX centuries. Members of the Russian governing family, monarch
dynasties, the Russian Orthodox Church, famous manufacturers and artists had
been customers of the Firm.

2001 is the year of William Shakespeare
Within the bounds of World Theatrical Olympiad III in the Theatre Gallery in
Moscow (Malya Ordinka street, Branch of the Theatre Museum by name of
Bakhrushin) an exhibition "Dedication to Shakespeare" has been opened. In
2001 "Hamlet", Shakespeare's famous tragedy, will be 400 years old. UNESCO
called this year the year of "Hamlet", which means Shakespeare's year. At
the boundary of the XX and XXI centuries the interest towards Shakespeare's
plays grew dramatically. Today's modern theatre is trying to realize
Shakespeare's realm in all its manifestations as true to life, philosophic,
humane and wonderfully metaphorical. The idea of the exhibition "Dedication
to Shakespeare" is a sort of the Museum's reply to Shakespeare's plays,
which have become an event of the Moscow theatrical life of the last several
years. The exposition includes photos, models of scenes of performances,
subjects of props, suites of Shakespeare's heroes, sketches of decorations
and dresses. The following are participants of "Dedication to Shakespeare"
project: the Moscow Theatre-on-Taganka, the Theatre "Et cetera" under the
guidance of Alexander Kaliagin, the Theatre "Satiricon", the theatre by name
of Eugene Vakhtangov, "Helicon-Opera", the Mossovet Theatre, People's Artist
of Russia S. Benediktov.

Voyage from Petersburg to Moscow
On June, 13 the Central Artists' House is going to open an exhibition
"Voyage from Petersburg to Moscow" in its hall No 13 and display painting,
glass and hot enamels there. For three centuries spiritual and plastic
traditions of Moscow and Petersburg have mutually enriched each other. This
energy of mutual attraction and repulsion is stimulating creative process of
the two capitals. "Voyage from Petersburg to Moscow" does not oppose Moscow
and Petersburg mentality, but it demonstrates the common character of
various artists' creative concepts. It is a manifestation of modern art,
images and ideas incarnated in hot enamels, glass and painting. In the
paintings and drawings of Moscow artists displayed at the exhibition there
is a strange combination of absurd, elements of new decadence and original
"scenographic" solution. The exhibition will function until July, 1, 2001.

Fantasy works by Maria Danilova
An exhibition "Colour and Drawing. Energy of Plane" in functioning in a part
of Hall No 18 of the Central Artists' House (pastel, water-colours, Tver).
Maria Danilova's creative work is a synthesis of various genres and
techniques of fine arts. There are a lot of architectural and ordinary
landscapes among her works, but she never draws from life. Her landscapes
are just her feeling of real things she has seen, interpreted by her
creative perception and fantasy. Another Maria's "trade mark" is her series
"BLACK', made in the techniques of Indian ink and hot wax. All her woks of
this series depict African masks and spirits, women-exorcists, all moving at
a tremendous speed, hovering in the air, being born in a mist thickened with
invocations. Maria Danilova's works come from galleries and private
collections of the USA, Germany, Finland, France, Cyprus and Czechia. The
exhibition will last until July, 1, 2001. One can find more information

"Nameless Heroes" in C. ART Gallery
C. ART Gallery invites visitors to Vasily Kolotev's exhibition "Nameless
Heroes (Modern Russia in Pastoral Pictures)". Vasily Kolotev became famous
just immediately after he exhibited his series of works called "Common
Flat". It was not the kind of fame to compete with officials and radical
artists, still he got his portion of visitors' sympathy. Kolotev doesn't
give any estimation of his characters, he just paints them in the style of
everyday life illustration. He doesn't search for any plots, he paints what
he sees, very true to life. Just pure truth. The exhibition project is being
held within the bounds of C. ART Gallery's program "Actual Russia". The
exhibition will last until July, 6, 2001.
