Drawn lubok, another wall

The old-believers created an amazing art phenomenon - drawn lubok. The old-believers didn't accept printed production: they rewrote religious books in handwriting and drew the lubok pictures (unlike mass-printed lubok) on paper with tempera and ink. In old-believers' lubok you can't meet market-show heroes - Gonos, Farnos, Paramoshka and Savoska - because of the clear tendency to grandeur and comeliness. Religious and spiritual-narrative subjects apparently predominated in this type of lubok.
From time to time the draughtsmen who had nothing to do with the old-believers - the nobles and middle-class people, entertaining themselves - made the drawings following the lubok scheme (a picture with explications). This type of drawn lubok is closer to the album graphics.
