TEXTILE FUND


The textile collection of the Museum Society amounts over half a million exhibits.
Among them there is a unique collection of printed fabrics - one of the best in the country:
Peasants’ oilpainted fabric,
boiled, alisarin, whitegrounded calicos,

(with unusually varied patterns)
fabrics with patterns in rococo style,
classicism style,
modern style,
constructivism style,
propaganda designs of 1920s,
specimens of regional textile production

(manufactured during the entire Soviet period),
recent textile production.
Historically, of special value are fabrics labeled by first Ivanovo manufactures: Grigory Butrimov, founder of first linen production in Ivanovo village (1742), and Yefim Gratchov, also by representatives of Ivanovo-Voznesensk biggest dynasty of factory owners - the Garelyns, Osip Sokov , whose name is connected with the first calico production in Ivanovo village (1787), Pyotr Zubkov, Mikhail Zamanovsky, Yakov Kuvayev and others.
All the listed items reconstruct the history of beginning, development and today’s stage of Ivanovo textile design.
