FOUNDATION
In early 20th century Ivanovo-Voznesensk museum of industry and arts, rarities and antiquities was among the best in Russia. Its founder was Dmitry Gennadievitch Burylin, a local factory owner, collector, patron of arts, enlightener.
Thanks to his original personality he had a feeling for arts, tried his hand at poetry, spent much time on compiling a history book of Ivanovo-Voznesensk. He also traveled a lot for purchasing new precious exhibits for his favorite creation - his museum.
In his spiritual testament will D.G.Burylun wrote: ’’My favorite collection of books, coins and other things ... should be the brightright of our native city of Ivanovo-Voznesensk and should never be sold out or plundered ( it has been gathered in great need and labor).’’ The city preserved this unique collection and today Ivanovites and their guests again can find themselves in the wonderful world, created by D.G.Burylin.
