PRECIOUS METALS COLLECTION


At present the collection amounts over 30.000 items.
Mostly there are pieces of numismatics (over 29.000 items), badges (about 900 items), applied arts (about 300 items).
The numismatic part is extremely rich and varies from 3-4th A.C. to present.
It contains: antique coins (Greece, Rome), Byzantine coins, eastern coins, Russian coins. Basically the numismatic items are of Russian origin. Among them are coins from Novgorod,, Kiev (grivna of 11-12th cent.), various principalities (14-15th cent.); coins of great princes and tsars (denga, kopeika, polushka); coins of imperial period (among them are interesting coins of Ivan Antonovitch, coronation rubles, memorial coins on various events of Russian history).
Collection of medals, orders and badges.
Among them are orders and medals of Russian award system ( Order of Alexander Nevsky, St. Vladimir, order of White Eagle, soldiers’ crosses of St. George, etc.).
Memorial medals and badges of 18th - 20th are devoted to various exhibitions, historic events and persons.
There also are medals of educational institutions and various societies.

Pieces of applied arts.
They include items: of church use, weapons, household (owl, scoops, glasses, mugs, table sets, etc.). Many specimens are masterpieces of high art produced by known artists like Faberzhe, Khlebnikov, Agapov, Ovtchinnikov, etc. Among them are pieces decorated by coining, carving, filigree, darkened silver, enamel.
