Annotation

In this diorama you can see one of the brightest episode of the Battle at Maloyaroslavetz on the monastery square. Russian troops of 8-th corps under command of the general of M. Borozdin attack and press the enemy. In the centre you can see hand-to-hand fighting between Russian and French columns.

In this attack Russian troops dislodged the French from the city. City is enveloped in smoke. The fires seized the houses of the peace inhabitants, churches, monastery building. Trying to achieve the superiority in strength in battle the French for the first time from the beginning of this war the Italian division of 4-th corp of the general E. Beauharnais was rushed to the attack. You can see the Italians attack to the Spasskie heights in the background to the right.

In the valley of the river Luzha, on the field in front of the city which is figured in the background to the left , Napoleon has drawn up the best divisions of the "iron" marshal Davout, which were ready under the first order to enter into the battle. The dramatic feeling and tention of the captured moment of battle are transmitted not only by the landscape but also by the diorama's objective plan.

About diorama and its author

The battle-painting was created by the national artist of the Russian Federation Efim Isaakovich Deshalit a well known master of panorama-diorama's art. E. Deshalit is the author of scale panoramic works such, as the "Salute of the Victory", "Tchapaev's last battle", "Battle for Bagrationov's fleshes", "Heroic Presnya. 1905" and many others.

His works were successfully showed at the Soviet Union and international exhibitions where their were more than once marked by the awards. During the work over the diorama's creation "Battle at Maloyaroslavetz" E. Deshalit has cafully studied the numerous literature over the history of the Patriotic war of 1812, the uniform of the Russian and French troops , and also the landscape on which the events having been deployed was explored in detail. The designers and other experts of the Moscow centre of the diorama-layout drawing and art works helped him in this work.

The building of the ancient chapelThe diorama survey is accompanied by the narration and special sound effects. By the means of painting, size, colour, music, naration the artist revives one of the most famous battles in the history of the Patriotic war of 1812.

The diorama "Battle at Maloyaroslavetz" was opened the September 12, 1987 in the building of the ancient chapel. This battle-painting was created especially for this building. The area of this painting is 19,95 square metres. The size -- 10,00 square metres.
