Military-historical holiday for children steadfast tin soldier

For several years in succession (here is our last year report (2000)) the military-historical holiday for children « Steadfast tin soldier » has taken place on the Borodino field on the last Sunday in May. The organizers of this holiday, on behalf of the military-historical museum and reserve “Borodino," have created a broad and varied program, which includes:

  • Visits to the Spaso-Borodinsky women’s monastery, which is situated on the place on which general A. A. Tuchkov died; to the monuments on the command points of Kutuzov and Napoleon ; to the Shevardino redoubt, to Raevsky’s battery, and to the fleches of Bagration.;
  • Excursion through the halls of the Borodino museum;
  • A military-historical performance «Through the flying smoke...», in which the events of the battle of Borodino are brought to life;
  • A demonstration performance by contemporary landing-force soldiers who win a hand-to-hand skirmish not by means of numbers, but of skill;
  • Opportunity to try on a Russian infantry uniform, to be photographed with a soldier of 1812, to hold a real infantryman’s gun, to taste soldier's porridge, to participate in a children's drawing competition, and to acquire souvenirs at the military toy fair.
