The Gogol Room
In August of 1849 N.V. Gogol visited Muranovo on his way from Abramtsevo to Moscow. He stayed in the upper room of the northern facade. Later this room was named after him. In the room there is a lithographic portrait of Gogol (1852) and a set of dominoes with Gogol's literary characters.
In the room there also are portraits of other people who came to visit Boratynsky and Putyata in Muranovo: D. Davydov, S. Aksakov, K. Aksakov, D.S. Poltoratsky. A picture by Bryullov portrays S.A. Sobolevsky who could also be Boratynsky's guest.
In the Gogol room there are a lot of watercolors by D.V. Putyata, the brother of Nikolai Vasilievitch and the owner of the estate. A military man by profession he had an artist's talent. With great love and diligence he imprinted different places in Muranovo in his works.
