M.C. Escher in Hermitage.
In co-operation with the Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Dutch Days of Culture, the M.C. Escher Foundation organizes an important Escher exhibition in The State Hermitage Museum to celebrate the 300 year existence of St. Petersburg. The exhibition includes more than 80 original prints of the world-famous Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher. The exhibition will open on September 16th and runs through the end of November. It will be the first Escher exhibition in Russia, although his work is already well known given the fact that many of his popular works are published in Russian books and magazines.

Eero Jarnefelt (1863-1937) and the family of the artists Klodt.
From September 8 till October 12, 2003 in Marble Palace. The exhibition is organized by the State Russian Museum, Helsinki Athenaeum museum, Eero Jarnefelt Society, and the Institute of Finland in St.Petersburg. It introduces the oeuvre of Eero Jarnefelt - one of the most prominent artists of "the Golden Age" in the history of Finnish art. The exposition comprises the works by Finnish and Russian artists Klodt interconnected not only by their oeuvre but also by their relative ties. Eero Jarnefelt's oeuvre is most diverse. He was a pioneer of Finnish graphic art, created altar paintings, made wall paintings on historical and mythological subjects. In the late works of the artist we find satirical portrayal of folk life, which is most uncommon for Finnish art.

The exhibition of the icons of the Mother of God in Pskov
The exhibition "Holy Pokrov in Russia" will be opened in Mandative chamber of Pskov museum-reserve on 24 October at 4 p.m. The exposition will be devoted to the icons of the Mother of God, which were made from the end of VIII till the beginning of XX century. 27 icons from funds of Pskov reserve museum will be exhibit for the first time.

Petersburg Autumn Photomarathon 2003
There is a Traditional the 4th Autumn Photomarathon in Petersburg during the October. It's a big festival of photography, which the sixth year is successively carried out in our city. The exhibition "The antiquities of Kyrgyzstan"
The exhibition "The antiquities of Kyrgyzstan" is opened in the Armory of Moscow Kremlin museums. The exposition tells us about history of ancient people, who lived in the Tien Shan Mountains and valleys, and demonstrates us cultural artifacts and art of different epochs.

The State Museum of History of Saint Petersburg and Museum of Helsinki city invite you to an exhibition "Russians in Helsinki ". It is going to be opened till 12 October. The exhibits submitted at the exhibition from the Museum of Helsinki city: picturesque and graphic products, photos, archival materials, cards, subjects of a life - will tell about history of mutual relations of two states - Russia and Finland; about "Russian" history of the Finnish capital - Helsinki during the period from 1809 till 1917 - time when Finland was part of Russian empire.

The Ministry of culture of Russian Federation and the State Tretyakov Gallery present an exhibition "Vera Phavorskaya (1896-1977), Ivan Chekmazov (1901-1961). The painting, the graphics. A collection of natural anomalies.
The State Darwin Museum invites you to visit the exhibition "Grimaces of nature", it is going to work till 9 November. The author of the exhibition Roman Kaliev is a taxidermist; he collects trophies of the chase, which represents nature anomalies - very rare developments. The majority of an anomalies submitted in this collection have appeared without direct or indirect intervention of a man, it is valid deviations from the norm, allowable and determined by the nature.

The weapon and regalia of the Second World War.
The exhibition "The weapon and regalia of the Second World War: Soviet Union - Third Reich" was opened in the Yaroslavl state historic-architectural and art museum-reserve. It's going to be opened till 18 December. It's constructed on the basis of museum assembly and at participation of the Yaroslavl collector who has collected rich materials on history of armed forces, propagation, and a life of the Third Reich.
