Masterpieces of German Silverware In the Kremlin
Museums of the Moscow Kremlin and the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany
in the Russian Federation present exhibition "Masterpieces of German
Silverware in the Kremlin". Museum of the Moscow Kremlin present one of the
best world collections of "west-european art silverware" of the 15th-18th
centuries. Many times this collection from the museums of the Moscow Kremlin
has been displayed abroad and today it's become possible to see it in
Russia.

Krakow Christmas Traditions
Museum of History of Moscow together with Historical Museum of Krakow invite
you to the exhibition "Christmas Traditions of Krakow". In the cultural life
of Moscow preparing for New Year's Eve party collection of Christmas
"verteps" displayed at the exhibition is a remarkable thing. The exhibition
will attract attention of those who are interested in customs and traditions
of Christmas celebrating. On display there are the best "verteps" of the
40-90s of the 20th century taken from the funds of Historical Museum of
Krakow.

Dumas Tour About Russian Empire
2002 is the year of 200th anniversary from the birthday of French writer
Alexandre Dumas. The exhibition tells us about Dumas Russian tour and shows
us Russia of the middle of the 19th seen by the eyes of great French writer.
On display there are Dumas' autographs, Russian editions of his works,
comments by Russian critics, views of the towns Alexandre Dumas visited,
genre scenes that attracted his attention.

Return To the Truth
Russian Orthodox Church and State Central Museum of Contemporary History of
Russia invite you to visit the exhibition "Return to the Truth. Russian
Orthodox Church in the Life of the State and Society. 1917-1918." The
exhibition prepared by the staff of the museum is dedicated to longstanding
complicated, sometimes tragic relations between the State machinery and
Russian Orthodox Church in the 20th century. Unique exhibits tell us about
Orthodox traditions in Russia in the beginning of the 20th century; about
the events in 1917; about persecutions of the Church in 1920-1930s and about
many other things.

Flicker of the History in a New Year's Tree Ball
19 December - 26 January in All-Russian Museum of Popular Arts and Crafts
there will be exhibition "Flicker of the History in a New Year's Tree Ball".
Collection of antiquarian Russian and Soviet Christmas-tree decorations has
been creating for 5 years by Kim Balashak. Kim Balashak came to Russia in
1995 and started collecting Christmas-tree decorations in 1998. The earliest
exhibits of the collection were produced in the end of the 19th century when
the tradition of decorating Christmas-trees was conceived.

To 190th anniversary of Patriotic War of 1812
State Historical and Military Archive, State Archive of the Russian
Federation, Russian State Archive of Cinematographic and Photographic
Documents together with State Historical Museum, State Borodino Military and
Historical Museum and Reserve, State Pushkin Museum and Panorama "Borodino
Battle" carry out the exhibition "Time of Glory and Delight" dedicated to
the 190th anniversary of Patriotic War of 1812. The exhibition is held in
the Exhibition Hall of Federal Archives. The exhibition is being carried out
in the days when 190 year ago Russian troops reached state line after they
had driven Napoleon forces out of the country.

Christmas Presentation
On 7 December, 2002 - 23 February, 2003, in the Hermitage there is
exhibition "Products from Historical Collections of Imperial Porcelain and
Glass Works of the 18th - beginning of the 20th centuries. On display there
is porcelain and from the collection of the new department of the
Hermitage - Museum of Porcelain Works. These things give an idea of the
gifts that have been exchanged between the members of Imperial family on
Christmas, and tell us about how they celebrated this holiday.

Museum of a Book
On 17 December, 2002 - 2 March, 2003, there is exhibition "Museum of a Book"
dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the New Hermitage and to the 240th
anniversary of the foundation of Scientific Library of the State Hermitage.
In 1762 Catherine II signed a decree on the institution of position of a
librarian for her book collection. This event started the existence of the
Hermitage Library and collecting and reserving historical books, books on
art, archaeology and numismatics.

Constant Exposition of Works by Pavel Filonov
In State Russian Museum there was opened constant exposition displaying 12
works by famous 20th century artist Pavel Filonov. On display there are
paintings from the cycle "Entering World's Prosperity" created in the first
half of the 20s of the 20th century. State Russian Museum possesses the
largest collection of Filonov's works.

Paintings by Russian Artists from the Collection of A.V.Suvorov Museum
In Rumiantsev's Mansion there is exhibition "Painting by Russian Artists of
the Second Half of the 19th Century - Beginning of the 20th Century from the
Collection of A.V.Suvorov State Memorial Museum". Painting collection of the
museum numbers about 500 works by Russian and foreign artists of the middle
of the 18th century - beginning of the 21st century. On display there are
about 50 paintings by Russian masters from the museum collection. All works
displayed at the exhibition in a varying degree are of battle genre.

Fontanny House and Its Inhabitants
Anna Akhmatova Museum in Fontanny House presents a series of exhibitions
"N.N.Punin - Photographer". This cycle is started by exhibition "Fontanny
House and Its Inhabitants". The name of Nikolai Nikolaevich Punin
(1888-1953) is known well to people dealing with artistic culture. Famous
specialist in study of arts brilliant critic, explorer, teacher, museum
employee, manager - in all these spheres Punin was outstanding and
remarkable figure. Exhibitions of the cycle will acquaint people with
different themes of his photographic heritage.

Exhibition Dedicated To The 80th Anniversary Of The USSR Formation
In State Museum of Political History of Russia there was opened exhibition
dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Soviet Union. The
exhibition started functioning on the threshold of 30 December. On that day
80 years ago the First All-Union Soviet Congress resulted in a decision to
form the USSR. Exhibits tell us about the first period of the formation of
the Soviet Union. At the exhibition one can see Declaration on the USSR
formation, speech shorthand reports of the participants of the First
All-Union Soviet Congress, membership cards and participants' photographs.
